Single- and Dual-Column Systems for Different Applications

The Starrett FMS and FMD Series expand the range of force testing systems for applications requiring higher load capacities and greater frame stiffness. The single-column FMS Series is designed for load capacities up to 5 kN, while the dual-column FMD Series supports higher loads up to 50 kN.

Supports a Wide Range of Test Methods

The force testers are suitable for tension and compression testing as well as common test methods such as break, hold, flexural, shear, peel, cyclic, and coefficient-of-friction testing.

Adjustable crosshead speeds and software-based control allow test routines to be performed repeatably and results to be documented for further analysis.

High Frame Stiffness for Repeatable Results

A rigid frame design, precision motion controls, and accurate crosshead positioning provide controlled force application and repeatable measurement results.

The dual-column FMD Series provides additional axial stiffness and a larger test space for higher loads and larger specimens. Its design includes a granite base, preloaded ball screws and bearings, and a heavy-duty crosshead for testing loads up to 50 kN.

Various Load Cells, Grips, and Test Fixtures

Depending on the testing application, the systems can be equipped with suitable load cells, grips, and test fixtures. This allows each system to be configured for different specimens, load ranges, and test methods.

Appropriate grips and fixtures securely hold and correctly align the specimen, helping ensure proper load application and repeatable measurement results.

Force Testing Software for Analysis and Documentation

The Starrett FMS and FMD systems can be used with suitable force testing software. Depending on the configuration, L1, L2+, or L3 is available—from basic force measurement and spring testing to advanced test routines, graphical analysis, and material testing.

This allows the system to be configured for the specific application and expanded with additional analysis, reporting, and documentation capabilities as needed.
